Death Announcement

The Prof. Dr. Domingo Marcolino Braile has passed away on this Sunday, March 22.

Founder of the Brazilian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery (BSCVS), along with other pioneers, the Prof. Dr. Domingo M. Braile had many professions and was always far ahead of his time.
A visionary, amid the difficulties of the beginning of Cardiovascular Surgery in Brazil, he created means for the development of this specialty, resulting in the birth of Braile Biomédica, in São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, which today operates in several countries.
A great education enthusiast, he leaves a huge legacy, far beyond the borders of cardiovascular surgery. Passionate about teaching, he leaves countless disciples who now have a duty to continue on the path he started.
A humanist, he believed that there is always more to be done for the patient, thus encouraging the development of science and contributing to numerous scientific publications, both in Brazil and abroad.
A friend, who as always available to listen to everyone, with wise and thoughtful advices.
Currently, he devotedly held the position of Editor of the Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery (BJCVS), the official publication organ of the BSCVS, contributing to the promotion of the journal to the international level.
The Cardiovascular Surgery and the Brazilian scientific community feel orphaned, but we are sure that his name will remain in our hearts.
To his family, wife, children and grandchildren, of whom he was so proud to say that they followed in their footsteps, our deepest condolences.
We will miss you very much, Dr. Braile, but we will stand firm, trying to honor your legacy.
